Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Letter, number, space, punctuation | Type the next character |
| Backspace | Remove the last character. A fixed mistake leaves your error count. |
| End race button | Stop the race and show your place |
| Race again button | Start a fresh race with the same settings |
The game needs a physical keyboard. On a touch-only device the Start button is disabled.
How the race ends
A race ends in one of three ways:
- You finish the text. You win the race.
- The time runs out. Your place comes from the distance you typed.
- All bots finish the text. This only happens if you fall far behind.
The result screen shows your place, WPM, accuracy and errors. It also shows your best WPM from earlier races.
How WPM works
WPM means words per minute. The typing industry uses five characters as one word. This race uses the same rule:
WPM = correct characters ÷ 5 ÷ minutes
Say you type 250 correct characters in 1 minute. 250 ÷ 5 = 50 WPM.
How accuracy works
Accuracy compares your correct characters with all typed characters:
Accuracy = correct characters ÷ typed characters × 100
Say you type 100 characters and 96 are correct. Your accuracy is 96%.
Backspace also edits the count. When you fix a wrong letter, the game removes that letter from the typed total. The fix helps your accuracy. The time you spent fixing still costs you speed.
How place works
Racers who finish the text rank above racers who did not. Inside each group, the racer with more characters ranks higher. If two racers have the same distance, the racer who reached it first ranks higher.
Bot speeds
| Level | Bot speed | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | About 25 WPM | Your first races |
| Medium | About 40 WPM | A common adult speed |
| Hard | About 60 WPM | Fast, accurate typists |
Each bot also has slow patches and fast patches. The average speed stays near the level number.
Frequently asked questions
Why did the timer not start?
The timer starts on your first key press. Select Start race, then type a letter. The game waits for you before the bots move.
Why does my accuracy drop after a wrong key?
A wrong key counts as an error until you fix it. Press Backspace and type the correct letter. The fixed error leaves your accuracy count.
Can I pause a race?
No. A race is short, so the game has no pause. Select End race to stop early and see your place at that moment.
Do I need to log in?
No. The game has no login and no account. Your best WPM and your last 20 races stay in your browser.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
The pages work on a phone or tablet, but the race needs a physical keyboard. Use a computer to play.
How do I share my score?
Select Share result after a race. The game copies a line with your WPM, your accuracy and a challenge link. On a phone, the normal share sheet opens instead.
